Scrap Around the World : December Challenge

I have just discovered a new blog called Scrap Around the World
It has some very inspiring and beautiful creations to view I have decided to enter the
The challenge stated we were to gain inspiration from the beautiful mood board
images pictured below.

As soon as saw this I new I had to enter. The images are so soft and elegant and provide so many creative opportunities.

I was inspired by the colours in the book image and the colour of the ladies hair.
Also the lovely floral picture inspired me to include some flower
embellishments on my canvas. I also noticed the texture
on the frames and included some masking with texture paste and cheese cloth.

So it was a wonderful set of images to start my creative process.
My canvas has many elements that give overall unity to the completed work. I love the
the colours together and  how they altered the numerous card stock, metal, floral and grungeboard embellishments. I especially love the dimensionality of this project and the
many textural components.

This is my first attempt at the mixed media concept and style and I hope you can gain some inspiration from my project. I think aim going to be a mixed media convert and potential addict ( LOL ).
I had so much fun trying out this style of creating.

Steam Punk Clock

Firstly I would like to thank everyone who visited my blog in past week I have received a lot of wonderful comments on my creations so a big thank you to everyone. I hope you have been over to graphic 45 and seen the wonderful creations since my feature artist post . Now I have just finished my latest project and hope you will enjoy it. This is my steam punk clock.

The papers I used for this project were steampunk debutante and one piece from steampunk spells.
These two collections are very eclectic and can be used to make
many different themed projects.
All the heat embossing was done with american crafts zing and tim holtz distress embossing powders.
All the cogs were die cut from card stock and the embossing gives the rustic metallic finish.
There is assorted metal work including large brads from graphic 45.
The base for the clock is a chip board fob watch style clock from Scrapmatts and the sign board
is also from scrap matts.
The chipboard is so ornate and detailed with delicateness. It gives detail to any project.
The next photo is a close up of the clock embellishments.

Thank you for coming over to see my clock and I trust it will inspire you in some way.
Don't forget my inaugural blog give away so if you are not a follower please

12 Days of Christmas

As you may have noticed I am in the christmas mood and having posted my latest tag as well a few others , I thought it was time for another 3D project and what better time of year than now for a gift style creation. The latest christmas collection from graphic 45 " 12 Days of Christmas " is in my opinion there best seasonal collection to date. The images are astounding and displays there ability to provide a wonderful colour palette to work with and gain inspiration from. In this post I would like to share my love of box style projects as well this wonderful paper collection.

Christmas Mantle Portmanteau

This project has many applications. I will be using it as a christmas christmas card and gift tag writing set. But it could also house a mini album, christmas keep sakes, special decorations or have many other christmas purposes. I love the layering and petaloo flowers.

THe graphic 45 components came from the 8 x 8 and 12 x 12 pads, sticker sheet, card stock flowers and chip board elements. This collection also is accented through the use of the tim holtz foundation feet and box corners.

If you love christmas then you will love12 days of christmas by graphic 45 and please share your thoughts on this project.

One more tag staples

My blog post is up on graphic 45 and I have had some wonderful responses in the comments section. I love there products so much and you will have noticed  I am partial to creating with them. So please go over to their blog and check out my feature post the link is :

I have a new tag, amazingly enough using Bo Bunny rejoice collection and scrapmatts chip board (not my usual graphic 45 ) . The paper collection is a christmas themed range an it has very traditional colours and is so stylish and elegant.

I love the form of this design it has symmetry and balance which are I try achieve in all my projects. The three colours coordinate well and give an overall traditional christmas feel. The scrapmatts chip board is so delicate and provides wonderful detail. The three ornaments I used are the focal point of the tag.

The remainder of the embellishments we created using wild orchid crafts paper roses, a metal flourish from my stash and the flowers were made using the tim holtz tattered florals and tattered poinsettia dies.

I hope you enjoy this tag and your christmas season brings many scrapbooking creative opportunities. My next post will be another christmas themed project and hope you come and check it out ( made with graphic 45 of course ).

Until then happy scrapping.

Graphic 45 Large Tag Staples 2

Typography Tag

This is the second tag in my large tag series.
I kept this very simple and stream line as the typography collection by Graphic 45 is very clean in its design. I think the colors are very bold and it gives high visual impact.
The first photo represents the front of the tag. I used the tags and pockets from typography and made two tags with images from the collection.

The front has a flip cover and exposes another tag pocket and further matting with papers
from the collection.

The next couple of images are from the back of the tag and include two file folders
in a pocket and provide space for journalling or photos.

Please came back for tag three where I have used bohemian bazaar. Typography is a great
collection and I would love to see any creations you have designed.

Please email me your photos at

Pocket Scrapping : Mother Goose

One of the current trends in scrap booking is the concept and technique of pocket scrapping.
I thought I would try it and use the wonderful mother goose
collection from graphic 45.
This collection is a whimsical children's themed collection and has the tell tale
vintage classic feel that all graphic 45 papers have.
I love the pocket idea as it allows you to make each individual mini layout, but co-ordinate
the entire project. I love the colors of this collection and they make my black and white photos stand out
The first photo is the entire project ( I removed them form the pocket page to reduce the glare on the plastic), I love the vibrant nature of this project.

The graphic 45 products I used for this creation were the mother goose 8x8 pad, 12x12 pad, tags and pockets, banners, chip board and sticker sheet, card stock flowers. I also used
American craft chip board thickers embossed with rouge zing embossing powder, bakers twine, satin ribbon in two colors, bazzill card stock, kaiser craft pearls and rhine stone strips,
and tim holtz walnut stain distress ink

One of the benefits of this type of scrapping, you can choose to put a photo on every section or limit the number of photos you use, there is a lot of flexibility.

I love to add a lot of detail to my scrap booking but that style is not for everyone.
this type of scrap booking looks very effective in a less detailed style and gives a very clean crisp look

I trust you will investigate pocket scrapping if you have not already and give a go, it will add another string to your scrap bow and provide a different way of displaying your cherished photos. and please get into graphic 45 paper they are great for this type of scrapping as well many others
Thanks for stopping by and stay tuned for further creations.

Cheers Andrew
